The set contains a resin casting of a fantasy character designated as a scribe in 1:24 scale. Unlike injection-molded plastic, resin takes very fine surfaces, so small textures and shallow folds stay legible on the casting. This is a collector figure to be assembled and hand painted, not a finished painted model.
With figures, 1:24 scale corresponds to roughly the seventy-millimeter collector range. That is the size at which it makes sense to paint the eyes, smooth transitions of skin shade and the texture of cloth, and at which the figure is at the same time comfortable to hold while working. The subject is a fantasy character, so the shades are not tied to any period original and the painter has a free hand.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to rid it of mold release agent, otherwise the primer will not hold. The casting block tends to be under the feet or under the base; cut it off with a saw and level the area with abrasive paper used wet, with respiratory protection. Go over the parting lines by scraping them with the edge of a knife, which is gentler than sanding. Glue the joints with cyanoacrylate glue and fill the seams with two-part filler. Apply the primer thinly, ideally in two passes, so that it does not swamp the detail. Start the painting with the face, from the darkest tone through the shadows to the highlights, and leave the eyes until last. Build the textiles with glazes and the contrast of light and shadow, and draw the small accessories out with a dry brush. Finally unify the figure with a thin wash, a matte varnish and, if you like, some dusting of the lower parts.
