A set of masking templates for a Sea King model in 1:72 scale, cut for the HC.4, HC.3 and Mk.43 versions. The material is kabuki tape, that is, a thin paper tape with a mild adhesive used precisely for masking when spraying models.
Kabuki tape is pliable, so it conforms even to a slightly curved surface while holding the shape of the cut. The cut has a clean edge with no fraying, and once lifted off it leaves no sticky residue on the surface. The adhesive is weaker than on ordinary sticky tape, which is an advantage on clear parts and fresh paint.
The Sea King is a heavy helicopter with a boat-shaped lower fuselage, built under license in Great Britain by Westland. In British service the HC designation belongs to machines for carrying troops and cargo. On this type the cabin glazing is divided into many panes, so masking by hand is drawn out.
Stick the templates down before spraying onto a dry, degreased surface and press the edges with a blunt tool. Apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy coat will creep under the edge. Lift a mask off shortly after spraying and pull it back at a shallow angle over itself, not straight up from the surface.
The package holds masking templates. A kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
