Young Miniatures 1:10 SS Panzer Crew WWII is a resin portrait bust from the range of tank crew subjects. The main work lies in painting the face and the dark uniform.

A collector's bust in 1:10 scale cast in resin. It is not a kit in the ordinary sense: the parts of the casting are aligned and glued within minutes and then the brush takes over the work. In 1:10 scale every stroke shows on the face and on the cloth, so the bust is above all a painting task.
Preparing the surface
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp knife or a fine saw, run a scalpel along the mold parting lines and finish them with wet sandpaper, protecting your airways. Fill and sand the seams after gluing, otherwise they will show under the paint. The parts are bonded exclusively with cyanoacrylate super glue.
A thin coat of primer is necessary, otherwise the paint will not hold on resin. Build the face from a mid flesh tone toward lighting on the forehead, the nose and the cheekbones and toward darker transitions in the eye sockets and under the jaw. Thin the paint and work in several layers, as one heavy coat would flood the detail. Paint the eyes only once the skin is finished, with the thinnest brush. Build the hair from a dark base and pick the strands out with a dry brush.
The uniform cloth of the tank pattern is very dark and that is exactly why it is not painted in black. Start from a dark gray or blue-gray base, pick out the edges of the collar, the lapels and the folds several steps lighter and add a thinned dark wash into the hollows. Paint the headphones, the straps and the small metal parts last, with your hand supported and with the thinnest brush; metal is finished by a wash into the hollows and polished edges. At the end unify the whole with a fine weathering pass, that is, a hint of dust in the folds and on the shoulders, and pin the bust to a base. Displayed at eye level it looks markedly better than on a shelf above your head.
The bust is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
