Acrylic Color Lapislazuli - a deep blue for detail

Lapislazuli is a deep blue from the Acrylic Color figure line from Green Stuff World, named after the well known blue mineral. It is a water-thinnable acrylic that combines with other acrylics and dries quickly. The shade is built for areas where the color is to look cool and costly: gemstones, magical crystals, the fields of shields, jewelry and ornamented fabrics.

Where detail pays off and where it does not

• When painting a larger number of figures, reserve the time for what is seen: the face, the weapon and one or two accents of color. This blue is a typical accent.
• A gemstone is done quickly and strikingly: a base in this shade, a darker shadow in the upper part of the stone, a light dot in the lower part and finally one white point as a highlight.
• The insides of cloaks, the undersides of bases and the parts hidden by a shield need no detail, as a base and a wash are enough there.
• On small areas work with thinned paint and a fine brush, because thick paint floods the detail.
• It thins with water or with an acrylic thinner, and lacquer thinner does not belong in an acrylic.
