The small 1:100 scale is popular with collectors of extensive collections and in tabletop games, where a large number of vehicles has to fit on the table, and with builders of small dioramas as well. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. We recommend checking the number of parts, their material and the contents of the package before buying. The brand offers a whole family of variants of this vehicle differing precisely in the turret, so choose according to the particular form in the name.
The Panhard 178 was a French four-wheeled armored car introduced in the second half of the 1930s as a reconnaissance vehicle for cavalry units. It had a crew of four and a rotating turret with a smaller-caliber cannon completed by a machine gun. The form designated 178B arose after the Second World War and differed above all in a new, roomier turret with a more powerful main weapon. In this form the vehicle served for a number of postwar years before a more modern design replaced it. A tall, angular hull with prominent fenders remained a characteristic feature.
In 1:100 scale most of the parts are small, so work with tweezers and a sharp knife and cut the parts from the sprue rather than breaking them off. Choose the matching glue according to the material of the parts: thin cement for plastic on plastic, cyanoacrylate on resin. Finish and paint the chassis and the running gear before you fit the turret and the upper parts of the hull. Apply the paint in thin layers, ideally with an airbrush, so that the fine engraving is not flooded. To bring the shapes out, use a dark wash into the seams and a fine lightening of the edges with a dry brush; mud and dust effects on the wheels and the lower hull will give a small model scale and depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
