This plastic kit from the American brand Atlantis Models represents a fantasy motorcycle designed by Tom Daniel, whose show machines belong among the classics of American modeling. It is not a model of a particular production motorcycle but a so-called show bike, that is a designer's piece built for effect: exaggerated proportions, striking shapes and plenty of chrome. The 1:12 scale is the standard with motorcycles, so the finished model fits in well among the other machines in a display case.
Tom Daniel is an American designer who became famous for designs of so-called show rods and show machines - vehicles that never came about in an operational form and exist above all as kits and show exhibits. You will recognize his work by its overstatement: a huge engine, a long fork, pronounced exhausts and a paint job that has nothing to do with realism and does not want to. It is precisely this freedom that makes kits like this interesting - nobody is going to count your rivets and the color scheme is entirely up to you.
Paint the frame and the engine before assembly, because once they have been glued you will not get at them. Do not sand the chrome-plated parts and do not glue them with liquid cement for plastic, which would eat into the surface; use cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest possible amount and rather scrape the chrome carefully away at the joint. Spray the gloss paint onto the body parts in several thin coats over a well sanded base, because otherwise the marks left by the mold will stand out. Apply the decals onto a gloss surface and go over them with varnish, so that the edges disappear. With a fantasy machine do not be afraid of metallic paint or a pronounced combination of shades; the pigment in metallic paint settles at the bottom, so stir the paint thoroughly and apply it only onto a smooth base.
