A self-adhesive masking set of kabuki paper intended for building a model of the MiG-15 fighter in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a part of a model but an accessory for painting. With this manufacturer the EXPERT grade is the most extensive variant made, and a basic BASIC grade is on sale for the same aircraft as well. The grade is a distinguishing detail, not a different form of the same goods, so check when choosing which variant you want.
The MiG-15 belongs among the first production jet fighters with a swept wing. It has a short fuselage with a circular nose air intake, a high-set horizontal tail and a cockpit with markedly broken-up canopy framing. The aircraft came about at the end of the 1940s and was produced in large series and under license as well. For a modeler the most demanding part is precisely the glazing of the cockpit and the small surfaces that have to be masked off accurately before spraying.
Kabuki paper is thin and pliable, holds the shape of the cut and will take being stretched slightly over a curved surface. Lift the parts out of the sheet with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and stick them onto a degreased, dry surface. Press the edges down with a toothpick, so that paint does not creep under them. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Take the masks off shortly after drying, while the varnish is not yet fully cured, and pull them back over themselves at a shallow angle.
This is an accessory for building a model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
