A kit in injection-molded plastic in 1:25 scale from the American brand AMT. The real subject is the Ford Mustang of the 1971 model year in the sporting Mach I trim. Check the exact contents of the package, the number of parts and the list of decals on the box.
The 1971 model year brought the Mustang the largest body in the model's history up to that point. The fastback sports coupe was given a very flat rear end, a wider track and a more massive front, so the car gives a substantially heavier impression than the first generation of the middle of the 1960s. The Mach I trim was the top of the sporting range: a distinguished front end, a matte treatment of the hood, sporting stripes and body accessories. This form of the Mustang is characteristic of the 1970s and has since become a rewarding subject for films and for models alike.
A large flat body needs good preparation: sand the parting lines down, spray a filler primer and check the surface against the light. Apply the paint in thin coats, as long straight surfaces otherwise easily give away an uneven application. Deal with the matte treatment of the hood with a mask and a matte varnish only after the base color has dried. Settle the decals on a gloss surface and even them out with a decal softener. Build the engine and the interior separately and dry-fit the assembly before closing the body up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
