A plastic kit of the Kawasaki KR250 motorcycle in 1:12 scale from the Japanese maker Hasegawa. According to the name, the finish is white and red and the year is 1984. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the year in the name refers to the real machine, not to the scale.
The KR250 is a Japanese middleweight sports motorcycle of the mid-1980s, powered by a two-stroke engine. It appeared at a time when Japanese makers were carrying their racing quarter-liter experience over into production machines, and it belongs to that generation of 250 cc sports bikes which keep their standing among collectors to this day. It is characterized by a light frame combined with bold period graphics, which make it look good as a display model even without further work.
With motorcycles in 1:12 the order of work decides the result. Build and paint the frame and the engine before you start on the fairing: once it is in place you can no longer reach inside. Spray the painted parts onto a smooth, sanded surface, ideally over a primer, and bring out the shine with a clear coat; a gloss surface under the decals is the condition for keeping their carrier film invisible. Leave the chromed parts as they are and do not handle them with bare hands. The chain, the brake discs and other small details can be picked out with a dark wash. At the end it is worth considering a matte varnish on the parts that are not glossy on the real machine: the rubber items, the seat and the tires.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
