Static grass consists of short fibers that an applicator stands upright, creating growth that looks like real grass. This version carries, according to its name, an autumn shade and a fiber length of 6 mm, a value suited to taller grass, field boundaries, the edges of fields and neglected ground.
The best results come with an electrostatic applicator: spread a layer of PVA glue on the surface, pour the fibers into the applicator sieve and clip the grounding lead to the wet glue. The fibers stand up vertically and the growth looks alive at once. Without an applicator the grass can also be sprinkled by hand, but expect some of the fibers to lie down, which suits trodden ground. Never rely on a single length and a single shade; natural growth only appears once shorter and longer fibers are mixed. Vacuum up or shake out the excess after drying, as it can be used again. The finished area can be unified with thinned pigment or a light touch of paint from a greater distance.
For builders of dioramas, vignettes and model railroad layouts who want to build grassy areas themselves and keep control over the result. The material is usable across a wide range of scales; in small scales the 6 mm length suits tall grass and shrubby growth rather than a lawn.
