Static grass with a fiber length of 4 mm in a shade listed as Vibrant Spring. Intended for dioramas and model scenery.
Responsibility details are not available.
Static grass consists of short fine fibers that are applied into a layer of glue and stand up perpendicular to the surface in the electric field of an applicator. The growth then stands and casts a shadow instead of lying there like a sprinkle. That is what makes the biggest difference on a diorama: the grassy area gains depth and stops looking like a green carpet. The shade of this item is listed as Vibrant Spring and aims at fresh spring growth.
Four millimeters is a universal medium length. In the large 1:35 scale it corresponds to grass about fourteen centimeters tall, that is a mown meadow or a grassy roadside; in 1:72 it works out at growth around thirty centimeters, that is an unkempt meadow. Shorter fibers suit lawns, longer ones weedy ground and ditches, and a scene looks best when the lengths alternate.
Color the surface in an earth shade first, so that no light material shows between the blades. Spread a layer of thinned PVA glue and sprinkle the fibers into it with an applicator; tap off the excess once dry and keep it, as it can be used again. Work in irregular islands and leave bare spots along tracks and around objects, where people or passing vehicles would have trodden the grass down. Playing with color helps: a light spray of an ocher or brown shade from a greater distance unifies the growth with the rest of the scene.
Static grass is supplied. Glue, an applicator, paints and a base are not included, unless stated otherwise.
