The kit captures the T-28D, that is, the armed conversion of the Trojan trainer, in the small 1:144 scale. The model is aimed at collectors who assemble a line of variants of one type side by side and want both the training and the working form of the machine in one display case. Check the contents of the package, the number of parts and the version of the external stores on the packaging.
The Trojan came about as a trainer with a radial engine and nose gear. The T-28D version is its later conversion for reconnaissance and attack duties: it was given a more powerful powerplant, a strengthened wing and pylons for external loads. In its day this was a typical way of turning a proven training airframe into a machine able to operate from short and simply equipped strips. In this form the Trojan served with a number of foreign operators.
A small scale puts the emphasis on precise gluing and a clean surface. Separate the parts with a sharp cutter, sand the parting lines with very fine paper and fill the gaps with thin filler, so the engraving is not lost. Glue the external stores and the small external parts only after the fuselage has been given its base coat, as spraying around them is otherwise difficult. Always use a primer; it unifies the color of the plastic and shows up unfinished work. Apply the paint in several thin coats, varnish the area to a gloss under the decals and unify the finished model with a matte or semi-matte varnish. Choose sparing weathering; in 1:144 it quickly overpowers the shape.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
