It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the nozzles from a plastic mold. The set is cut for the Trumpeter kit. Alongside it there is also a variant for the late type of nozzle, so when choosing you need to know which machine and which period you are building. Check the number of parts on the box.
The RA-5C Vigilante was the reconnaissance version of the North American Vigilante carrier aircraft, a twin-engine machine powered by General Electric J79 powerplants. It flew from the navy's aircraft carriers and was among the largest and fastest machines ever operated from a deck. Its exhaust nozzles form a prominent pair at the rear of the fuselage and their form changed during production and in later modifications, which is why the sets are divided into an early and a late type.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before gluing to clear them of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surface with an abrasive; protect your breathing while sanding resin and sand wet. They are bonded with super glue, as ordinary plastic cement does not hold. Apply a primer before painting, then a smooth gloss base and only over that a metallic shade. Bring out the detail with a dark wash and fine heat discoloration using heavily thinned paint. Leave the metallic shades for the end of the build.
