The base can be used in several ways: as a wet palette for acrylics once you put a hydration pad and paper into it, as a palette for oil paints with absorbent card, or as a surface on which large decals are handled. It also serves as a rest for parts during a build.
A lid that saves paint
The palette has a flexible lid that closes over the mixed paints, so they do not dry out between two sessions. The lid is semi-transparent, so you can see what is inside and do not have to open it to check. With acrylics it means that a mixed shade stays usable longer than if it stood out in the open on the bench.
For modelers and figure painters who mix shades and return to them repeatedly: with figures the same mix may be used for several evenings in a row. It suits acrylics and oils equally well, so it replaces two separate aids.
Paints are not included in the package. Whether hydration pads, papers or absorbent cards are enclosed, and in what quantity, should be checked on the box: additional consumables are bought separately.
