Vision blocks and the heads of the optics make up only a fraction of the surface on a tank model, but they are the places with the greatest contrast. When they stay in the color of the hull, the eye passes them by. When they gain a clear surface, they turn into the detail where the gaze stops. The set deals with this for a model of the T-80U from the kit of the maker RPG.
Being tied to a particular kit matters with an add-on of this type. The shapes of the recesses and their spacing differ between the models of various makers to such an extent that a universal solution would either overhang or float in its seat.

Dusty and muddy equipment reads convincingly, but a real crew cleans its vision blocks. Lead the dust and the mud around the rims of the optics, therefore, into the gaps and into the corners of the recesses, while leaving the clear face itself clean. The combination works best: dirty surroundings and a clean center. The contrast between them is exactly what makes the impression of a machine in use, and the optics stay legible as optics.
