The T-55A is a Soviet medium tank of postwar design that grows out of the T-54 family and is among the most widespread tanks of its day. You recognize it by its low silhouette and rounded turret without pronounced edges; the main weapon is a 100 mm gun. It stayed in service for decades and went through a number of upgrades, so machines of the individual configurations differ in details such as fenders, stowage boxes, tool brackets and the tanks at the rear. It is precisely such small things that decide how a model looks.

Photo-etch makes it possible to make parts as thin as plastic cannot be molded, and it therefore comes into its own wherever the thickness of the material is conspicuous on a finished model. According to the name, the set is intended for the kit with the manufacturer's part number RFM5098, that is the T-55A in the Mod.1981 configuration; on another kit of the same tank it may not seat. The list of parts, their placement and the recommended order of work are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the part from the carrier fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by twisting, otherwise it will bend and is then hard to straighten. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge comes out straight along its whole length. The metal is bonded with super glue applied with a pin; any excess creeps into the engraving and stays visible even under paint. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and use a primer intended for metal, otherwise the coat will rub off the smooth surface during handling.
