An accessory, not a kit of a vehicle. A turned metal barrel of the German 10.5 cm light field howitzer in the leFH 18/1 version in its self-propelled form, with a length of L/28, in 1:35 scale. According to the name it is intended for models of the Pz.Sfl. IVb (Sd.Kfz. 165/1 Ausf. A) and Heuschrecke IVb carriers. It replaces the plastic barrel from the base kit.
The leFH 18/1 was a version of the German 10.5 cm light field howitzer adapted for installation in self-propelled mounts. The L/28 designation gives the length of the barrel in multiples of the caliber, that is a fairly short weapon as is typical of howitzers. It was carried by the Pz.Sfl. IVb, a self-propelled howitzer on a chassis derived from the Panzer IV, and also by the late-war weapons carrier known as the Heuschrecke. Both designs were built only in small numbers, which for the modeler is one reason why a more accurate barrel is worth having for them.
Cut the plastic barrel off at the root, drill out the hole in the mantlet to the diameter of the spigot as needed and glue the turned part in with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with primer. On howitzers with a short barrel the correct diameter and the open muzzle stand out even more than on long guns, because the whole barrel is taken in at one glance. Suggest the dried residue of firing around the muzzle sparingly with a dark pigment, otherwise it will suppress the shape of the part.
The set is an accessory, not a model. It is supplied unpainted; the kit of the vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
