1:48 Luftwaffe Display base kit JG 54

Display base for a 1:48 model – Luftwaffe JG 54

This is not a kit of an aircraft but a base for a finished model in 1:48 scale from the brand 77propeller. In theme it refers to the JG 54 fighter wing and serves so that a finished model does not stand on a bare shelf but on a surface that belongs to it thematically. It is listed in the name as a kit, so expect to assemble it before displaying it.

Use

• First lay the parts out and dry-fit them to see how they go together. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts, not out of habit.
• Do not fix the model to the base firmly until you have tried the position. On a single-engine fighter in 1:48 scale a couple of millimeters decide whether the span fits without overhang.
• If you want to secure the model but keep the option of taking it off again, use double-sided tape or modeling putty instead of glue.
• You can match the base to the model with a light wash or with pigments, so that the weathering of both goes together and the model does not look out of place on the surface.
• Before displaying it in a case, rid the base of dust and fingerprints. On a flat surface dust is more visible than on the model itself.

Who the base is for

It suits the modeler who builds Luftwaffe aircraft in 1:48 scale and wants to present a finished piece with a reference to a particular unit without building a whole diorama. It comes into its own in a display case, when photographing a model and at club shows, where the surface gives the model context and at the same time holds it in place. Anyone who collects aircraft by unit can bring a whole display case together the same way.

It is an accessory for displaying a finished model. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
