A set from the Armory brand that brings to 1:144 scale the main wheels in the variant corresponding to the beginning of production of the British four-engine bomber. The tires are shaped as weighted, so after they are fitted the machine stands on the ground convincingly and does not float on tiptoe. The designation universal set suggests that the manufacturer is not aiming at a single specific box.
The Lancaster was born as a rescue variant of an unsuccessful twin-engine predecessor whose engines disappointed. The design team lengthened the wing and fitted four proven V12 engines, which produced one of the most capable bombers of its time. A spacious bomb bay without partitions allowed it to carry even exceptionally large loads that simply did not fit into other machines. The first production pieces reached the units at the beginning of 1942.
In a format this small it pays to have tweezers with fine jaws at hand and a light mat from which the part will not disappear. Remove the flash with a stroke of the blade, not with a file, as otherwise the outline of the tread will be lost. Glue the wheel so that its flat part lies parallel with the mat, and only then stand the model up.
