An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese Type 033G submarine in the large 1:144 scale from Trumpeter. The larger scale allows richer treatment of the hull, the sail and the deck details than small ship kits do. The model is built as a full hull and usually comes with a base and decals. The Type 033G is a Chinese missile variant derived from the diesel-electric submarine of the Romeo class. It was developed at the Wuchang shipyard, launched in the first half of the 1980s and taken into service shortly afterwards. Compared with the basic Romeo attack version it brought hull changes connected with carrying anti-ship guided missiles, which is why it is usually counted among the experimental or transitional types of the Chinese submarine fleet.
Glue the hull halves with liquid cement for plastic and sand the seam on the smooth side carefully. Decide on a full-hull build on a stand or a conversion at the waterline. Paint the underside with an anti-fouling color and the upper part dark gray or black. Add the sail, the periscopes, the masts and the fine deck details at the end and even the surface out with a matte coat; in the larger scale even the small drain holes in the side of the hull show to advantage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
