This is an aftermarket set of photo-etched metal parts intended to refine the external details of a plastic model of the Airbus A319 airliner in 1:144 scale. The package does not contain the model of the airplane itself, nor paints or glue. It is an accessory for a modeler who wants to get the most out of an ordinary kit. The photo-etched fret is cut for the Revell kit.
The Airbus A319 is the shortened version of the narrow-body airliner of the A320 family. It serves on shorter and medium routes and in service it appears with a number of European and overseas carriers. A characteristic element is the low-mounted wing with wingtip devices and the pair of underslung engine nacelles.
Injection-molded plastic has a limited minimum wall thickness, and small external elements therefore come across as oversized on a model. Photo-etched metal sheet a few tenths of a millimeter thick makes it possible to produce them at a realistic thickness. The set is focused on the external details, among others the engine nacelles, the landing gear, the sensors, the wingtip devices and the windshield wipers. The result is a cleaner silhouette and better readability of the detail on the finished model.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a firm surface, not by twisting. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is crisp. They are glued with a minimal amount of cyanoacrylate glue, or with a binder intended for photo-etched parts. Degrease the metal before painting and spray on a base intended for metal surfaces, otherwise the paint holds badly. Apply the paint in thin coats, so that the fine texture is not flooded.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a standalone kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
