An aftermarket set of photo-etched metal parts for refining the exterior details of a plastic model of the wide-body airliner Boeing 767 in 1:144 scale. The package holds only the add-on parts; neither the model of the aircraft itself nor the paints and glue are included. The target kit is the Zvezda one.
The Boeing 767 is a wide-body twin-engine airliner with a fuselage that allows a seating arrangement with two aisles. It was produced in several fuselage lengths and in service is used on medium as well as long-haul routes. Freight variants were built on its basis as well, and they still make up an important part of the fleets of parcel carriers.
Thin sheet metal features can be made in injection-molded plastic only in an exaggerated thickness. Photo-etched metal a few tenths of a millimeter thick replaces them in a realistic proportion and adds fine exterior details of the airframe and the engine nacelles. In 1:144 scale, where a model has relatively small dimensions, it is exactly these small things that a careful build shows in.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a scalpel, never break them out. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two blades. Use cyanoacrylate in a minimal amount; an excess is hard to remove. Degrease the metal and spray a primer for metal surfaces, otherwise the paint peels off. The glossy corporate liveries of the carriers need a smooth base and several thin coats.
The set is an accessory to a model, not a separate kit. The basic Zvezda kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
