A photo-etched detail set in 1:144 scale, intended for a kit from the maker Roden. The item belongs in the branch of metal photo-etched accessories, so the parts are etched from thin metal sheet and are held on the fret by narrow tabs. Which particular kit the set belongs to is given in the manufacturer's instructions, because Roden offers several different models in this scale.
The smaller the scale, the more photo-etch changes. Because of the mold, an injection-molded part has to have a thickness that in 1:144 scale corresponds to several centimeters in reality, so small elements come out coarse. A metal part, against that, may be as thin as sheet and holds a sharp outline even where the plastic shape is only suggested.
Cut the tabs through with a sharp blade on a hard surface and true the edge up with a fine file. Make the bend along the marked groove in one movement, best in a bending tool or between two blades. In 1:144 scale the parts are really small, so work over a tray with a high rim and handle them with fine-tipped tweezers. They are glued with superglue applied in a minimum amount to the edge of the part; cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Degrease the surface before painting and go over it with a primer.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
