Decals of Australian Hornets in 1:144 scale offer four variants of machines of the Royal Australian Air Force including anniversary schemes.
Responsibility details are not available.
The decal sheet offers four different Australian aircraft of the F/A-18 type, single-seat and two-seat. National insignia, serial numbers and unit markings are included, and the enclosed instructions show where the individual elements are laid.
Australia chose the Hornet in the 1980s as a replacement for older supersonic fighters and acquired dozens of single-seat and two-seat examples; the great majority of the airframes were assembled directly in Australia. The machines carried an inconspicuous gray camouflage, but at unit anniversaries they were given strikingly painted vertical tail surfaces and sometimes the whole airframe. It is precisely such examples that are represented on the sheet alongside ordinary service machines from several squadrons. The classic Hornets lasted in service there for over three decades before a new generation of fighters replaced them.
The base must be glossy, as otherwise a silvery veil will appear under the film. Cut the sheet motif by motif, soak them for a few seconds and let them rest on a paper towel. In place, move the motif with a brush and draw the excess water off. A softener will help the decal to flow around rivets and engraved lines, and finally cover everything with a matte varnish.
Acquire the plastic model of the aircraft separately.
