An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Hawker Tempest in 1:144 scale from Mark I. The boxing is focused on the close of the type's career — besides the Mk.V fighter version it also covers the TT.5 guise, adapted for towing aerial targets. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the contents of the package and the number of decal schemes are stated on the box and in the instructions for the kit.
The Tempest Mk.V was the most widespread version of the type, powered by a liquid-cooled H-24 engine and armed with cannons in the wing. Once wartime service had ended, some of the airframes were converted into target tugs designated TT.5, which served for gunnery training. Target-towing aircraft usually carried striking high-visibility finishes with stripes, so that they could be made out clearly from a distance.
Work out first, according to the version you choose, which parts you will use — the towing conversion differs from the fighter guise in its equipment. The ventral radiator is a focal element, so sand its joints carefully. Spray the bold stripes of the towing finish through a mask and apply them in two passes over a white base, so that the yellow or red covers well; a brush leaves noticeable marks at a small scale. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals, and once dry unify the surface with a matte or semi-matte varnish to suit the machine you have chosen.
