The real subject

The Handley Page Victor was a British machine with a striking wing cranked through several angles, another of the types of the V force. The B.2 version served as a bomber, and the K.2 was produced as a tanker for refueling in flight. A model in 1:144 scale is slender and light, so the impression it makes is decided by the details that lie in the line of sight from below, that is above all the landing gear.

What the set contains

The package holds replacement wheels with weighted tires in 1:144 scale for the B.2 and K.2 versions. The wheel is shaped as though the weight of the aircraft were resting on it: the contact face is flattened and the sidewall of the tire slightly bulged. How many pieces the package holds and what material the parts are made of is given in the manufacturer's catalog sheet.

Building and painting tips

Cut the surplus material and the traces of production away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully, so as not to spoil the shape of the contact face. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. They are not polystyrene, so cement for plastic models will not bond them; use super glue and the procedure given in the manufacturer's instructions. Glue the wheel on so that the flattening of the tire points down toward the ground and the axle is horizontal, otherwise the model stands crooked and the weighted effect works against you.

Who it is for

It is for modelers who are building a Victor standing on the ground and want the model to show its weight. On a model posed in flight weighted wheels do not suit, because the flattening appears only under load. The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
