A stand-alone sheet of waterslide decals for 1:144 scale, not a kit. Unlike universal sheets with national insignia, this is a type sheet: it is prepared directly for one particular aircraft and offers markings for its military operators. According to the name it covers machines from Australia, South Korea, Nepal and India.
The HS.748 is a British twin-engine turboprop transport aircraft with a conventional low-set wing, designed for operation from less well equipped and short airfields. It was precisely that undemanding nature that earned it a long career not only in civil transport but also in military transport, liaison and training roles. In India the type was built under license and in that form is designated HAL-748. The combination of British manufacture and Indian licensed production is the reason the same machine appears in service in such different parts of the world.
A type sheet differs from a sheet of insignia in that it also holds large-area elements, for example stripes on the fuselage, operator lettering or extensive lines along the windows. A few rules apply to them. First, plan the order: the large elements first, then the small lettering and finally the technical markings, so that smaller decals do not end up under larger ones. Second, apply a long band to a well moistened area so that it can be moved along it, and align it by one reliable line rather than by several at once. Third, pull the film down with a softener over windows, doors and engraving and, once dry and where appropriate, cut through the outline of the openings with a new blade. Finally even the whole model out with an overcoat.
