A photo-etched detail set for the J2M3 Raiden model in 1:144 scale is an accessory to a kit you have already bought, not an airplane model. It adds the features on a model that should be as thin as sheet metal on the real thing.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory from the Czech maker Brengun for a model of the Japanese J2M3 Raiden fighter. The box does not hold a model but photo-etched metal parts that are fitted to a kit already built or under construction. Brengun also offers a vacuum-formed canopy for the same aircraft, so the two improvements can be combined.
With accessories, half of the success lies in when each thing is done. Features that go inside the fuselage or into the cockpit are fitted and painted before the halves are joined: afterwards you cannot reach them. External photo-etched parts, by contrast, come only after the base coat and the decals, so that masking and sanding do not damage them. If you are also planning to replace the cockpit glazing, leave that for the very end: a thin film canopy is best fitted when everything else on the model is finished.
Separate the parts from the fret with a scalpel on a hard surface; never break them out. Wash the metal in warm soapy water, wipe it with alcohol and prime it. Make the bends along the etched thinning lines, and for sharp corners anneal the metal briefly over a flame. Bond with super glue in minimal drops applied with a wire: an excess shows on the surrounding plastic as a white veil. Sand the spot under the photo-etched part smooth.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
