The MiG-15/15bis and Lim-1/2 In Polish Service decal set in 1:144 scale brings Polish markings for the MiG-15 jet fighters and their license-built Lim-1 and Lim-2 versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a sheet of waterslide decals from the brand Model Maker in 1:144 scale, aimed at the MiG-15 and MiG-15bis machines and at their Polish license-built variants Lim-1 and Lim-2. It is not a kit or an accessory part: you use the set to mark a model you have already built or have under way. Check the exact scope of the sheet and the number of schemes against the illustration on the packaging.
The MiG-15 was among the first Soviet swept-wing jet fighters built in large numbers, and the MiG-15bis version received a more powerful engine. Poland built the type under license as the Lim-1, which corresponds to the MiG-15, and the Lim-2, which corresponds to the MiG-15bis. In their day these were the standard fighters of the Polish Air Force, and the machines differed both in equipment and in the rendering of their national insignia and tactical numbers.
First even out the area the decal will go onto with a gloss varnish. On a matte surface air bubbles would be left under the carrier film and the decal would silver. Cut the sheet closely around the motif, release it in lukewarm water, move the decal onto the model, set it in position and blot the surplus water away with soft paper. Over rivets and engraved lines a softener helps, as it relaxes the film and draws it down to the surface. Once it is perfectly dry, spray the whole model with a matte or semi-gloss varnish, so the glossy edges of the decals disappear. In 1:144 scale the markings are very small, so tweezers with soft jaws and good lighting of the workbench pay off.
The package holds decals. The kit, the paints, the varnishes and the softener are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
