Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Karl-Gerät 040 self-propelled siege mortar in the small 1:144 scale by Trumpeter. Despite the small scale the model captures the exceptionally massive shape of one of the largest guns of the Second World War as well as its characteristic tracked chassis.
The Karl-Gerät 040 was a German heavy self-propelled siege mortar with a barrel of about 600 mm caliber, built to destroy heavily fortified targets. It was among the largest self-propelled guns ever built; moving under its own power was slow and over long distances it traveled by rail. It was committed, among other places, at the siege of Sevastopol and in the suppression of the Warsaw Uprising. The later rebarreled Gerät 041 version had a caliber of about 540 mm.
In the small 1:144 scale clean edges and restrained painting show to advantage. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and cut the small parts off carefully. Spray the massive body of the mortar with an airbrush in a period German shade, bring out the recesses with a fine wash and suggest the edges with a drybrush. Use pigments sparingly so that the small model does not go coarse.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
