1:144 P-51D Vacu Canopy is a vacuum-formed canopy from the Czech manufacturer Brengun: a replacement clear part, not a kit. Intended for the Platz or Eduard kits.

This is an accessory for a model, not a kit of an aircraft: a vacuum-formed clear canopy for the P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:144 scale from the Czech manufacturer Brengun. Vacuum-formed canopies are shaped from a thin clear film, so against a part injected into a mold they have a substantially thinner wall and better optical quality. On a tiny model that is apparent at once; the cockpit stops looking like a solid lump of plastic. The set is designed for the Platz or Eduard kits.
It is used most often in two ways. Either it replaces the thicker part from the kit, which closes the cockpit off visually, or it makes it possible to build the model with the canopy slid back and the interior exposed, for which an ordinary injection-molded part is usually too thick. On the P-51D with its teardrop canopy the difference is clearly apparent, because the canopy makes up a large part of the silhouette.
Cut the part out with a few millimeters to spare and only then sand the outline down gradually on fine abrasive paper laid on a flat board; check it by laying it against the fuselage, not by measuring. So that the thin film does not buckle while being sanded, fill it with modeling clay or putty. Glue it solely with a clear adhesive for canopies or in spots with a cyanoacrylate with low fumes; ordinary plastic cement will attack the film and solvent fumes will cloud it. Before spraying the frames, dip the part in a clear gloss varnish, which will increase both its clarity and its strength.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
