Armory 1:144 late type wheels for the SR-71A Blackbird with sagging tires are a resin replacement for the wheels from the kit. A cast contact patch gives the model a faithful stance under load.

The set from Armory replaces the plastic wheels on models of the SR-71A Blackbird in 1:144 and matches the late type of wheel. The resin castings carry a finer tread and sidewall pattern than is usual on injection-molded parts this small, and the tire is cast with sag where it touches the runway. The finished model then stands naturally on the surface. This is not an aircraft kit but an add-on part for the build.
The SR-71A Blackbird was designed for long reconnaissance flights at high supersonic speed and great altitude. The combination of titanium structure, the characteristic shape of the fuselage and extreme thermal loads made it a technically exceptional type. The high landing speed and the weight of the aircraft meant heavy demands on the tires, which were modified over the course of service; later machines therefore carried wheels different from the early ones.
Work with tweezers over a light surface, as the parts are small and spring off easily. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw, level the cut with sandpaper and verify the contact patch against a flat board; otherwise the model will stand crooked. Wash the castings in warm water with dish soap before painting and let them dry out completely. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, or with epoxy. A tire looks better in a flat dark gray shade than in pure black. On an all-black airframe work mainly with the difference in sheen rather than a markedly different color. At the end you can dust on a little pigment if you are placing the model on a dusty surface. Sand resin with airway protection, ideally wet.
This is an add-on to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The set is supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
