A velocipede is an early type of bicycle. In a scene from the first half of the twentieth century it is an unobtrusive but very useful prop: a bicycle leaning against the wall of a cottage, standing by a station building or dropped by the roadside tells you at once that people moved about here, and the scene stops looking empty.
Two pieces of a velocipede model for 1:144 scale. In this scale these are very small parts that give a diorama scale and life without drawing attention away from the main model.
Work over a light surface and with tweezers, as parts this size are hard to find anywhere in the workshop. Cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder gently. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; on parts that are not polystyrene, super glue applied in minute drops on the tip of a toothpick is suitable. Wash and degrease the part before painting. Paint with a fine brush: the frame in a dark shade, the saddle and the bags set off in a warmer tone, and finally go over it lightly with a dry brush so that the edges come out. Seat the bicycle so that it leans on something or has a support, otherwise it will look unnatural in the scene.
The base, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The bicycle is supplied as an accessory, not as a finished scene.
