Armory 1:144 – wheels for the Yakovlev Yak-42D is a resin add-on set of landing gear wheels for models of this Soviet three-engine airliner.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of replacement resin landing gear wheels for models of the airliner Yak-42D. This is not an aircraft kit – it is an add-on that replaces the wheels of the base kit with castings with a markedly finer drawing of the hubs.
The Yakovlev Yak-42 was a Soviet three-engine jet aircraft for medium routes, brought into service at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s as a more modern successor to older types on regional lines. The Yak-42D variant with extended range became the most widespread version and flew with Russian and foreign carriers long after 2000. The machine stands on a rugged landing gear with twin wheels, which on a model in 1:144 scale are clearly visible beneath the low-set fuselage.
Plastic wheels in small scales are made by gluing two halves together – the seam runs across the tread and sanding it often destroys the pattern. A resin wheel is cast in one piece, with a sharp transition between the hub and the tire, which also makes painting easier: you brush the hub without going into the tire. Fitting is a matter of cutting the casting block off and a drop of super glue.
An add-on set – the base model of the aircraft is not included in the package.
