A replacement Martin-Baker Mk.9A/B ejection seat in 1:48 scale. An accessory for a kit that replaces the simplified part from the box.
Responsibility details are not available.
An ejection seat in the Mk.9A/B form in 1:48 scale, meant as a replacement for the seat supplied in a kit. The seat is the most conspicuous thing visible in the cockpit under an open canopy: it has a headrest, harness straps, a firing handle and a whole row of small features that in a kit usually shrink into a few smooth surfaces. A replacement part brings this area up to standard without your having to rebuild the whole interior.
The difference shows above all on models with the canopy open and on those that stand in a cabinet within reach. Sharply drawn edges, pressings and a hint of upholstery hold shadow, so the cockpit stops looking empty. It pays to seat the seat as a trial before gluing and, if need be, to adjust the contact surface; kits differ from one to the next in the dimensions of the seat tub.
Do not free the part with nippers. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully so that the contact surface stays flat. Cement for polystyrene will not help here; reach for super glue. Before painting, wash the part in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry thoroughly, otherwise the paint will not hold. Apply the primer and the shades in thin coats; the straps and handles are then picked out separately and the fine relief stays readable.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
