This is not an aircraft kit but a stand-alone accessory for modelers: a resin replacement propeller for a model of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-13 in the large 1:32 scale. The propeller is among the first things anyone notices on a finished model, and it is precisely there that the plastic part from the box tends to be most marked by the parting line of the mold. A resin casting renders the shape of the blades and the spinner in one piece and without grooves from the mold, so patina and the sheen of the varnish come off better on it too.
The Fw 190D-13 belongs to the last branch of development of the Fw 190, with the inverted V12 Jumo 213 engine, which modelers know by the nickname Dora. It differed from the widespread D-9 version chiefly in armament mounted on the propeller axis, and only a small number were built, so it is something of a rarity among the machines that get built. On these late versions the shape and setting of the propeller are among the details worth watching on a model.
First wash the resin in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent so that the remains of the mold release agent come off the surface — without that, paint will not hold. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutter and true the surface up with a file; when sanding resin, work with your airways protected, ideally wet. It is bonded with super glue, as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Lay on a primer before painting, and only then the shades themselves. If you want the propeller to turn, think the mounting through before you glue the engine cowling on.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as a stand-alone replacement part. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
