A plastic kit of the space pirate battleship Arcadia in the third ship form, as presented by the film Galaxy Express 999 Another Story: Ultimate Journey. The kit is unassembled and unpainted; the particular contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decals are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Arcadia is a fictional space battleship from Japanese animation, connected with the character of a space pirate and with the story world around the Galaxy Express 999 train. Characteristic features of the design are the long slender hull with a tall stern, a prominent bow section and a sail-like extension above the bridge, which gives the ship the look of a historical sailing vessel carried over into space. The third ship is one of the variants of this design, which differ from episode to episode in the shape of the superstructures and in the details.
With ships in a small scale it pays to assemble and fill the hull first and to sand the gaps before the base coat is applied. Join the plastic parts with a thin cement for polystyrene, which wicks into the gap and leaves the surface clean. A base coat from a spray can or an airbrush unifies the color of the parts and reveals any shortcomings. The fine engraving and riveting on the hull stand out after a dark pass with a thinned wash, which runs into the recesses; wipe the excess off with a damp cloth along the length of the hull. Apply the metallic accents last, because they are hard to mask and to overspray.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
