The fifth volume in the range of stencils from MH models offers a further selection of German divisional insignia for large models of vehicles in 1:16 scale. The markings are applied in paint through the stencil, so the result has no thickness and no extra sheen of its own and fits into the finish of the model.
The way you spray has the greatest influence on the quality of the outline. A lower pressure, paint thinned to a slightly milky consistency and several very thin coats instead of one wet one all work well. Spray perpendicular to the surface and from the edge of the stencil inwards. Lift the stencil off carefully once dry and let the insignia cure properly before you move on to the next steps. If the paint sprays onto an unwanted spot, wait for it to dry and rather repaint the area in the base shade than clean it wet.
It is for modelers who can handle an airbrush and want markings as believable as the camouflage beneath them. It also pays off when you plan to break the insignia up with scuffing or dust. A coat of paint can be sanded so that it looks like worn original marking, which is considerably harder to do with a decal.
