The large scale makes the tank a sizable and impressive model with rich detail on the hull, the turret and the running gear. It is a more demanding kit for more advanced modelers which, once finished, forms a dominant piece for a display case.
The Leopard 2 is a German main battle tank, one of the most successful Western tanks of its generation, used by the German army and by a number of other states. The 2A6 version is notable for its longer 120 mm Rh-120 L/55 gun, which increases penetration and effective range at greater distances. It is complemented by reworked frontal armor protection for the turret. The Leopard 2A6 is among the mainstays of modern NATO armored forces.
With a tank it pays to assemble and paint the running gear and the bottom of the hull before you finish. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and bond any photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. Panel highlighting and light weathering will bring the modern three-color NATO camouflage to life; dust and mud effects with washes and pigments will give the vehicle the realistic look of training and deployment.
