A sheet of decals in 1:16 scale with the markings of the Pz.Kpfw. V Panther medium tank in the Ausf. A version, tactical number 435. It is not a kit but a set of markings for finishing a built and painted model. The 1:16 scale is used for large static models as well as for radio-controlled machines.
The Panther is a medium tank with a long gun barrel, sloped frontal armor and suspension on double torsion bars. Against the earlier Ausf. D, the Ausf. A version brought a new turret cupola and a reworked machine gun mounting in the frontal armor of the hull. Before you start laying the markings, check that your kit matches those features.
The foundation is a smooth glossy base. Apply clear gloss varnish to the whole area where the markings are going and let it cure. Straighten a large design on water: moisten the base properly, slide the decal off, move it into place at leisure and only then squeeze the water out with a soft brush or cloth from the center toward the edges. Where the film passes over a weld or a grab handle, prick the bubble with a needle.
A two-part system works best: the setting solution on the base before laying, the softener only on the laid markings. The film ripples temporarily, but leave it alone as long as it is drying. Seal the dry decal with gloss varnish and unify the surface with a matte or semi-matte varnish; on a large model that also protects the markings against abrasion. Patina, dust and chipping come only at the end.
The package contains decals. The kit, paints, varnishes and softeners are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
