WEIKERT DECALS 1:16 T-34/85, 38th Independent Tank Regiment is a decal set for a large model of the Soviet medium tank. It serves to finish an already built model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set in 1:16 scale from the brand WEIKERT DECALS, tied to the Soviet T-34/85 medium tank and to the markings given in the name as the 38th Independent Tank Regiment. It is an accessory, not a kit: the model, paints and varnishes are not part of the package.
The T-34/85 carried an 85 mm gun in a larger three-man turret, thanks to which the crew could at last share out the work at the weapon. For a modeler what matters above all is the surface texture: the cast turret is rough, the hull welded from thick plates with clearly visible seams. In 1:16 scale even an ordinary visitor to the display case sees this texture, and the markings have to pass across it without a crease.
On a rough cast turret a decal softener is indispensable. The procedure has two phases. First the preparatory solution, which improves adhesion, is applied to the area, and the decal is laid on it. As soon as the decal is in position and the excess water has been drawn off, the stronger softener is brushed over it. Within a few minutes the film goes soft, crinkles and at the same time sinks into every irregularity; in this phase do not touch it under any circumstances. Once dry, the surface levels out and the decal looks painted on. If a bubble stays somewhere, prick it with the tip of a scalpel and apply the softener once more.
The package contains decals. The model, paints, varnish and softener are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
