A large figure of a sniper in 1:16 in resin. A format in which it pays to paint the eyes, the seams of the uniform and the texture of the cloth.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sniper spends most of his duty motionless. He chooses his position by the view and by the escape route, masks his outline so that it does not resemble a human being, and before he fires once he may lie there for many hours. That attitude on the boundary between calm and tension makes him a rewarding subject for a figure painter.
In 1:16 an adult figure measures roughly eleven centimeters. That is a difference of class: it stops being a silhouette and starts being a portrait. You will see the shape of the face, the fingers on the stock, the buckles of the straps and the way the cloth falls over a knee. The brand therefore prints this line at the highest resolution and supplies it as a resin casting with a minimum of parting lines.
A large casting carries more supports than small figures. Remove them gradually, so that the part does not bend, and smooth the cuts in several steps with ever finer sandpaper. Wash the figure before painting and let it dry out thoroughly.
It pays to start from the flesh and let it mature in several thin coats; only then does the camouflage pattern come up. In this format it will take no shortcut: apply the patches with a brush one at a time, with a soft transition, and set the gear apart with a more matte surface than the clothing has.
1:16 is not set into a landscape but onto a plinth. A tall wooden plinth with a dark stained finish lifts the figure visually and concentrates the eye on it; the surrounding terrain only has to be suggested with a few tufts of grass at the feet. The less there is around it, the more strongly the painting comes out.
