An airbrush mask in 1:32 scale for spraying the markings of the night Ju 87 D-8 replaces decals: the designs are sprayed straight onto the airframe of the model from the Hasegawa kit.

This is an accessory for the Hasegawa kit, not a model of an aircraft. The set contains machine-cut self-adhesive templates with which the markings are sprayed straight onto the paintwork instead of using decals. At the large 1:32 scale the difference shows: a sprayed design has no glossy carrier film, does not silver, makes no step on the surface and cannot crack across engraved panel lines. The markings thus look like part of the paintwork rather than a stuck-on film.
For the same machine there is also a separate mask for the national crosses. These are two different sets that complement each other, which is easily missed from the name, so it is worth pointing out.
The Junkers Ju 87 D-8 was a late variant of the Ju 87 dive bomber adapted for night operations. It differed from the day versions mainly in its equipment and in modifications to the exhausts, which suppressed the dazzling of the crew. Models of night machines are built in dark finishes, on which crisply sprayed markings look especially good.
Stick the mask onto a perfectly dry base coat, ideally sealed with a thin layer of gloss varnish. Press the template down with a toothpick, especially in the corners and at the thin strokes of letters. Spray perpendicularly and in several light coats; a slanted spray runs under the edge. It helps to spray over the edge of the mask with the color of the base first, so that any seepage does not show on the color of the design. Lift the mask off with tweezers in a slanting pull while the paint has only just set. Cover the surroundings of the design with paper, so that the mist from the airbrush does not reach the finished paintwork.
The set contains masking templates only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
