Pre-cut masks in 1:48 scale for a model of the F-14D Super Tomcat carrier fighter aircraft. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The double-sided version means that the sheet covers both the outer and the inner side of the clear parts - so you can color the frames in the surface color from outside and in the interior shade from inside. On the Tomcat that pays off, because the canopy is large and one-piece and the cockpit under it is extremely visible.
The F-14D was the last production version of the Tomcat. Against the original variant it was given a different powerplant - a pair of F110 series engines, which replaced the troublesome original engines and removed the restrictions on handling the throttle during maneuvering. Among the other changes were digital avionics and a twin sensor pod under the nose. Structurally the machine stayed faithful to the original solution, with a variable-sweep wing, a crew of two seated in tandem and a twin vertical tail.
First degrease the clear parts and let them dry off. Stick the inner masks on and spray the interior shade before you fit the canopy to the fuselage - otherwise you will not get inside again. Lift a mask from the sheet with tweezers, lay it precisely and press it with a soft tool from the center toward the edges; an air bubble under a mask is the commonest cause of paint creeping in. Spray thin layers and let each one flash off in between. Remove the masks while the finish is not yet fully cured, and pull them slowly back over themselves.
The set is an accessory for the model. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
