A set of pre-cut painting masks for building a model of the Grumman F-14B carrier fighter aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory that comes in before painting. The masks are cut to the shape of the parts of the Academy kit, so they are simply peeled off and stuck on - with no measuring, no cutting of tape and no risk of the blade slipping across the cockpit glazing.
The one-sided version means that the set is prepared for masking from the outer side of a part. That is the usual and quicker way of working. If you want the glazing frames painted from the inner side as well, the brand also issues a double-sided variant for the same aircraft - it is the only difference between the two items, so it pays to choose according to how you want to build the model. Check the exact number of masks against the details on the packaging.
The F-14 is a twin-engined carrier fighter aircraft with a variable-geometry wing and a crew of two. The F-14B version differs from the original A in its powerplant - it was fitted with General Electric F110 engines and in model form it can also be told by the shape of the ends of the engine nacelles. It served with the US Navy until the type was withdrawn.
Wash the transparent parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry off, so that a mask will hold. Seat a mask with tweezers and press the edges down with a toothpick. Spray the interior color first, then the outer shade - with gray schemes it is a good idea to start with the lighter color and work the transitions up by misting. Take a mask off right after the last coat has flashed off.
The package holds painting masks only. Neither the model nor the paints are part of it.
