A pre-cut masking set for a model of the He 111 H-8 Paravane in 1:48 scale. The masks are stuck onto the clear part, the paint is sprayed over them and once it is dry they are taken off - all that is left on the model is a sharp edge to the finish. With New Ware the BASIC level is a statement of the scope of the set; the manufacturer lists further variants for the same type.
The glazed nose of the He 111 is one of the most demanding areas a modeler can meet in 1:48 scale. The frames are short, converge at various angles and some of them lie on a doubly curved surface. Cutting by hand means dozens of small cuts made with a knife directly across the clear plastic - and that is by far the commonest place where a build ends in a permanent score. A pre-cut set does away with that step, because every item already has the right shape and laying it down and pressing it on is all it takes.
The He 111 H-8 was a variant of the twin-engined aircraft fitted with a frame structure carried ahead of the nose. This equipment changes both the silhouette and the way the nose is worked out, so a set for this variant is not interchangeable with masks for the ordinary versions of the type.
The set is cut for the ICM 48267 kit in 1:48 scale - check that you have the matching model. The paints and the model are not included in the package.
