A set of gun mantlets in three optional guises for a model of the PzKpfw VI Tiger I heavy tank in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The PzKpfw VI Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War, armed with a gun of 88 mm caliber. The gun mantlet is the armored shield in the front of the turret through which the barrel passes; it covers the opening for the mounting of the weapon and is one of the first places a viewer looks at on a model of a tank. The guise of the mantlet changed during production, so two machines of the same type can look different at this point.
The set holds three optional guises of the mantlet, so you choose the one matching the machine and the period you want to build. The parts are meant to be joined with the barrels from the separate sets GM-72-021 and GM-72-022, with which they agree in shape. The set is of use also when the shape of the mantlet in a kit differs from the machine in your references.
The parts are not made of polystyrene; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder back carefully, so as not to cut into the shape of the mantlet itself. Wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly. Try the fit dry first: the front of the turret usually has to be leveled, so that the mantlet sits without a gap.
The parts of the gun mantlet in three guises are what is supplied. The barrels are the contents of the separate sets GM-72-021 and GM-72-022; the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
