The product carries the name of the shade, Red. It is a paint from the range set aside for the dry-brush technique, that is a finishing coloring product, not a kit.
The dry brush is the quickest way to give a model back the three-dimensionality that an even coat of base color takes away from it. A minimum of paint is picked up on the brush, the rest is wiped off on a tissue and the surface is then passed over with light strokes across it. The paint clings only to what stands proud: the sharp edges of parts, rows of rivets, frames, gratings, chains and the coarse texture of a casting.
Both techniques work with relief, but from opposite sides. A wash is a thin paint that flows by capillary action into recesses and engraved lines and darkens the surface there. The dry brush, by contrast, leaves the recesses entirely untouched and acts only on the raised areas. That is exactly why they are often combined: a wash deepens the shadows, a dry brush lifts the lights. The usual order is the wash first and the dry brush only once it has dried — the other way around, the liquid would dissolve the coat you have just laid on.
For modelers finishing equipment, aircraft and figures, and for anyone looking for a bold, deep shade in their palette for accents of color.
Keep the paint well closed and out of the reach of children, and ventilate while working. Instructions for thinning and use are on the manufacturer's packaging.
