A transparent red shade for lights, clear lenses and color filters on a model. It is applied in thin coats so that it stays translucent.
Responsibility details are not available.
A transparent paint differs from a covering one in that it does not hide the base, it only tints it. It is used anywhere you have to see through: on lights, on navigation and position lamps, on the clear glass of instruments or on small covers. On aircraft the left position light is red; on vehicles red is usual for the rear lamps and reflectors. The shade also suits tinting a finish when you need to shift an existing color toward a warmer tone without losing the detail beneath it.
The result is determined by what lies under the paint. On a silver or polished metal base it creates the impression of a lit lamp, on a white surface the shade is lively and clean, and on a dark base it darkens toward red-brown. It therefore pays to prepare the base smooth and glossy; a matte surface scatters a transparent paint and the light then looks clouded.
Apply in thin coats and let the paint become tacky between them. The depth of color is governed by the number of coats, not by the thickness of one of them; a heavy coat stays uneven and runs into the surroundings. The thinner intended for this line and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging; use it for cleaning the tools as well. Shake the bottle well before work.
Thinner, brushes and airbrushes are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
