1:48 F-35B Lightning II by Red Fox Studio is a sheet of 3D decals for the cockpit of the single-seat F-35B short-takeoff version. An accessory for the cabin of a model. The accessory is aimed at the Italeri kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set completes the cabin of the single-seat F-35B in 1:48 scale. The print is applied to a layer with a thickness of its own, thanks to which the panels gain relief and the cabin acquires a depth that flat artwork cannot imitate.
The F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing version. Behind the cabin it has a lift fan and a swiveling nozzle, which affects both the shape of the fuselage and the internal layout of the aircraft. The cabin keeps a single pilot seat and the same concept of a large-area panel as the other Lightning II versions, but controlling the vertical flight mode calls for controls of its own. The set is offered specifically for the B version, so do not confuse it with the items for the A version.
Legibility of the cabin under an open canopy
A model with the canopy open is viewed from above and usually in worse light than the light you worked in. A dark cabin then merges into a single blotch. Contrast therefore pays off: paint the base a shade lighter than would be strictly correct, and after settling the decals bring out the edges with dry brushing. Always leave the seat a little darker than the panels, so that the view offers some layering. Finally, check the cabin through a photograph on your phone, because a lens reveals gloss and unseated edges more reliably than the eye.
This is a cockpit accessory, not an aircraft model. The Italeri base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
